How many sessions will I need?
Psychological therapy is a process which is specific for each individual. The duration of counseling is difficult to be forecasted as this depends on the issues a person is dealing with and the rate of their progress, Some clients resolve their issues in a small number of sessions and other clients prefer to work on their emotional development on a long-term basis.
What are your fees?
Mornington Peninsula Psychology offers reasonable pricing with our clinical psychologists and offers Medicare rebate facilities. For further information on the fee and rebate structure please contact us.
Can I claim through my Private Health Insurer?
Yes you can. Please advise our reception staff if you wish to claim your visit through your Private Health Insurer. You will be required to pay your account up front and will be issued with a receipt to take to your fund to claim. However your Private Health insurance ancillary cover cannot be used to pay the gap between the Medicare rebate and the charge for psychological services.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
You do not need a referral to see a psychologist at Mornington Peninsula Psychology. However without one you will be unable to claim a rebate through Medicare. We suggest making an appointment with your GP and discussing your eligability for a Mental Health Care Plan. If/when your GP provides you with a Mental Health Care Plan and referral, please bring these along with you to your first appointment so you can claim your Medicare rebate.
Will it be confidential?
Absolutely. Please feel secure that anything you discuss with our psychologists will be treated with strict confidentiality. Please speak to one of our reception staff if you have any further questions regarding this.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
If for some reason you need to cancel or postpone your appointment we prefer 48 hours notice, however a minimum of 24 business hours notice is required or a cancellation fee will be charged.
If you fail to attend an appointment the full fee for the appointment will apply. Under these circumstances please be aware of the following:
- The hour has been set aside for you. We have other people waiting for appointments. By failing to cancel your appointment you do not give us time to offer the appointment to someone else.
- The cancellation fee is not eligible for the medicare rebate.
You will not be able to book another appointment until the cancellation fee is paid in full. All future appointments will be cancelled until the fee is paid.
- We send SMS reminders as a courtesy but it is not our responsibility to make sure you attend your appointment.
Cancellation fees are managed by our administration staff. Your psychologist will not discuss this matter with you under any circumstances because it affects the therapeutic relationship.
